Creating a collection

Collections are containers for storing the files and documents that are ingested into Sintelix. Original files and documents are not stored in collections, only their textual content.

Collections can be searched and used to generate networksA network is a visual summary, generated by Sintelix, of the information in one or more documents..

The way in which you organise the documents does not significantly affect your ability to extract and report on the information in them. However, Sintelix processes documents into collections so it is recommended that you align your collections with the configurations that you use to process documents. Network creation is easier to configure if collections are aligned with the sets of documents you use to create networks.

Note: You can only view and edit collections if you have sufficient permission to do so.

To create a collection:

  1. Open the project you want to create a collection in.
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. From the Ingestion Configuration dropdown list select the ingestion configuration you want to apply to the collection.
  4. Note: To open the Configuration screen in a new tab (where you can view and modify ingestion configurations) click the icon beside the field.

  5. In the Collection Name field enter a name for the collection.
  6. To add security to the collection click ‘No additional security’. Enter the user names and/or groups allowed to view and modify the collection, then click Apply.
  7. Click Create.
  8. If you created the collection from the Collections screen the collection is created and opened.

If you created it from the project’s Overview tab the collection is created but not opened.

You can now add documents to the collection (see Adding documents to a collection).
